What is Deep Muscle Therapy?

This unique method of physical therapy was researched and developed by George Alzner. After perfecting the method, having worked on hundreds of patients with various conditions, Mr. Alzner also invented the famous “Alzner Arch Supports”. Having received his training as an Orthopedic Masseur in Europe, Mr. Alzner was well aware of the natural applications of physical therapy on the body. While providing therapy to many World War II survivors, Mr. Alzner was able to determine that Deep Muscle Therapy was indeed a most successful form of physical therapy. His unique method of therapy is a combination of several existing methods, and is a highly effective method of treatment.

The physical manipulation in this method of therapy has 2 major physical effects on clients:

  • Enhanced Circulation: An increase in blood and lymph circulation.
  • Soft Tissue Normalization: Relaxation and normalization of the soft tissue (muscle, connective tissue, tendons, and ligaments) which releases nerves and deeper connective tissues; it loosens and lengthens constricted fascia, as well as breaks down adhesion between the tissues.

For those who have not had previous treatments, it is beneficial to have the treatment at least once a week, for several weeks, to begin with. The initial weekly treatments will develop a stronger lasting positive change in your condition lasting weeks if not months.
