Introduction to Deep Muscle Therapy
This course introduces the new student to the Mission, Goals and Code of Ethics of the Academy as well as Professionalism and Communication skills required as a therapist. It also introduces the new student to the history of Deep Muscle Therapy and Ergonomics of practice.

Anatomy I
A disciplined study of the functions of all body systems, concentrating on the musculoskeletal system. This discipline is a study of the functions of all body systems:
- Musculoskeletal
- Cardiovascular
- Urinary
- Lymphatic
- Respiratory

- Reproductive
- Endocrine
- Digestive

Technique of Deep Muscle Therapy

This course is designed for the serious-minded student, interested in the skills of corrective muscle therapy, achieving muscle balance and treating muscular problems.
Pain is often caused by tension, daily stress, injury, congestion or stagnation. Releasing the hypertonicity in layers of muscle is a priority to circulatory enhancement, pain reduction and optimum health. Deep Muscle Therapy releases stiffness and stress due to overuse in all soft tissues and increases range of motion in joints. DMT promotes optimum function of all body systems.
The student is taught through lectures, discussion, projects, evaluation and hands-on skills, internship, practice and testing.

Course Dates: Typically, we prefer to begin each new course on the 2nd or 3rd Saturday in the month of January. Final exams will be mid-June.
Classes will be held all day most Saturdays, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. There will be an additional full week of classes in February. Dates TBA
Deep Muscle Therapy is a full-body treatment of muscular imbalances, improving circulation and enhancing the health and well-being of the recipient.

School Policies
- Smoking: Smoking is banned inside the Academy and clinic facilities.
- Alcohol and Drugs: The use of alcohol and non-medicinal drugs is banned on Academy and clinic premises. Students coming to class under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs are subject to immediate dismissal from the program.
- Morals: All students enrolling in the Academy must make clear their motive and intent as to the proper and professional use of the Technique of Deep Muscle Therapy. Students must commit, in writing, to the code of ethics. Any student not showing moral and professional dignity to those of either sex will be subject to immediate dismissal from the Academy and Association of Deep Muscle therapy.
- Harassment: Any form of verbal, physical or emotional abuse, harassment, intimidation or threat of violence toward any student, client or instructor will not be tolerated.
- Communicable diseases: All students and therapists will protect both the classmates and the public using finger cots or latex gloves in the event of broken skin on the hands of the one administering therapy. Bandages must be used on any open skin by the one receiving therapy or allow the therapist the personal right of refusal.
- Ethics: Each student, therapist, and instructor must strictly obey the rules of draping and are required to sign the pledge and code of ethics of the Academy of Deep Muscle Therapy. Students and staff must always maintain professionalism and modesty.
- Attendance:
- Tardiness-late arrival for classes is time lost for the student.
- Absenteeism-students are permitted to miss only 15% of class time. Emergency situations will be considered on an individual basis.
- Material missed because of absence or tardiness must be made up by the student.
- Grading: Each student must pass Course 101, 102 before enrolling in Course 201.1 and 201.2 - Technique of Deep Muscle Therapy.
- Termination: The Administration may, at its discretion, dismiss a student prior to completion for excessive absences, non-payment of tuition or failure to comply with Academy rules and regulations.
- Tidiness: It is important to develop strict habits and high standards regarding personal cleanliness and clinical tidiness.
- There will be a $35.00 service charge for any returned cheques.
- There will be a $25.00 late charge for payments made after date assigned.
- Classes start at 8:30 a.m. and run until 4:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted.
- Clinical hours and requirements and all payments must be made before the certificate is issued.
